The opening five minutes of the vastly underrated psychological horror film The Sender, starring Zeljko Ivanek and Shirley Knight. The film tells the tale of an anonymous young man in a mental ward who has the supernatural ability to control reality with the power of his mind, keeping the audience in suspense as to whether what they're watching is real or coming from his head. The director, Roger Christian, went on to helm the infamous Battlefield Earth, but don't let that put you off; this was his first film, and he shows enormous promise here. The film has yet to be released on DVD by Paramount - hopefully they will correct this at some future date.Clip copyright of Paramount Pictures.

I've has this on my wish list since forever when I read about it in one of my (many) horror movie books. In it there's a picture of a TV with the college guy's face on it & a severed head on the floor!

I have also been searching for this movie for awhile. I was probably 8-10 when I first saw it and though I dont remember much I do remember a scene in what I think was a public restroom, and lots of blood and just a feeling of pure dread.

I've been trying to find this movie for years. Could you please post some more of this? The beggining is spooky and tragic at the same time, thanx for posting.

interestingly evocative music, esp. for non-major horror movies of the time. it has some lush eerie notes kind of mixed into part-wondrous, part-sweepingly melodramatic music that i dont like so much, but it does establish a heady, evocative atmosphere and doesnt open in a corny predictable way. but trevor jones' truly masterful musical score is for "angel heart." can you please upload the whole movie, "the sender"?
