people replied are wrong... George Wood was in both movie and the series (only 3 episodes though S1E1-2 & 9) as Brigad General Hammond...

some info... Richard Hooker wrote the book 1968. The movie was made 1970 and directed by Robert Altman and this song was written by his son Mike at age of 14! (music by Mandel).. TV-series 1972-1983
