This was my mother's favourite song. I never appreciated it at the time, but now listening to this recording, I choke up on the beautiful lyrics and singing by Jim Reeves. What a classic and among the most beautiful songs recorded.

Great song.I am sure that alot of people are gonna disagree,but his version is better than the Elvis version.This is usually not the case...

The song you are talking about is "Old Paint."Good old cowboy song- also listen to Jim's"The Blizzard" yet another good cowboy song. I never heard Jim do Old Paint, but Chris LeDoux did it good too. Cant beat Jim's voice-it is so smooth.

great song, nice voice, when I was young I heard a song from jim I believe with the following lyrics " oh when I die, put my saddle from the wall and put it on my pony and leave him from his stal ( or something like that ) does somebody now that song? gracias robert mexico
